One of the greatest things about the state of West Virginia is its sense of ownership and community. At Catholic Charities, our mission is straightforward yet profound: to serve our neighbors across all 55 counties within our state. As the largest nonprofit social services provider in West Virginia, we assist our neighbors in their greatest times of need—offering food for families, housing support, disaster relief, child care assistance, and so much more.
This year, we saw how quickly situations can change and how critical it is to act. When one of only two emergency homeless shelters in Morgantown faced closure, we stepped up. Within a few short months, we were running Grace Shelter, operating 24/7 to provide a safe haven for the homeless in one of our state’s most populated areas. Our unique structure combines the resources of a large organization with the agility to meet local needs swiftly and effectively—a capability made possible by the generosity of donors like you.
In countless smaller ways, too, your support enables us to make a difference. In Wheeling, we installed lockers at our day shelter, offering our unhoused neighbors a safe place to store their belongings. And in Princeton, we bridged a critical gap by adding lunch service every Friday, ensuring no one would go hungry.
