2025 Charity in Action Award Honoree

Catholic Charities Announces 2025 Charity in Action Award Honoree for 15th Annual Hope Gala

Catholic Charities West Virginia is honored to announce the recipient of the 2025 Charity in Action Award: the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley (CFOV). This esteemed award recognizes individuals and organizations whose dedicated commitment to service and partnership profoundly impacts our communities.

“Charity is love in action. We seek organizations that truly reflect that love for our neighbors, and CFOV exemplifies this. Their impact spans from human services and health to recreation, disaster response, and supporting first responders,” stated Mark Phillips, CCWVa CEO.

Established in 1972, CFOV has been a cornerstone of philanthropy in the Upper Ohio Valley for over five decades. With assets totaling $75 million, the foundation has distributed more than $30 million in grants and scholarships since its inception, including over $3 million in the past fiscal year alone. These contributions have significantly bolstered local organizations and initiatives, fostering a more vibrant and resilient community.

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to the Community Foundation for their dedicated service to our community,” said Katie Klug, CCWVa Chief Mission Officer. “By fostering a spirit of generosity and collaboration, CFOV not only provides essential financial support to local organizations, but also inspires individuals to take an active role in shaping the future of their community.”

CCWVa will recognize the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley at its 15th Annual Hope Gala on Saturday, March 1, at 6 p.m. at the White Palace at Wheeling Park in Wheeling, West Virginia. This unforgettable event aims to inspire and highlight the hope we bring to those we serve while honoring the dedication, passion, and resources of individuals committed to improving the lives of people in Wheeling and the surrounding communities.

Enjoy an elegant evening of dinner, drinks, dancing, and celebrating those we serve. Tickets for the event are $125 per person and can be purchased at www.ccwva.org/event/gala.

Funds raised through the event support CCWVa’s programs and services in northern West Virginia.
