Bringing Food and Care to Those Who Need It Most

Catholic Charities West Virginia has worked to ensure that people who can’t come to our traditional food pantry can still keep their kitchen stocked. Staff and volunteers at Catholic Charities Loaves & Fishes Outreach Center deliver 10-12 food bags each week to individuals with physical disabilities or extenuating circumstances that make a visit to the pantry difficult or even impossible.

One client reaches out when she’s not going to be able to come to the center in person. She knows that someone will make sure she gets her food. She also shared that they always go the extra mile by carrying her bags to her vehicle or delivering her pantry bag.

“I just really appreciate the kindness that everyone shows at Loaves and Fishes. Every time I’m in there I feel welcomed, and everyone is always so quick to help,” she said.

Her story highlights the multi-layered impact of food pantry services. In addition to keeping food on people’s plates, the pantry and its staff, volunteers, and clients are cultivating caring connections throughout our community.
