Catholic Charities West Virginia (CCWVa) is proud to announce its merger with St. Ursula Food Pantry & Outreach Center in Pursglove, West Virginia. This strategic partnership will allow both organizations to enhance and expand services to individuals and families facing food insecurity in Monongalia County.
St. Ursula Food Pantry & Outreach Center, a long-standing and deeply rooted presence in the community, has provided critical food assistance and support to households living at or below the poverty level. With services including scheduled pantry appointments, emergency food distribution, and a dedicated Baby and Toddler Program, St. Ursula has been a lifeline for families west of the Monongahela River and the Town of Star City.
“St. Ursula Food Pantry & Outreach has faithfully served our neighbors in need with dignity and compassion,” said Ashlie Kotson, Northern Regional Director of Catholic Charities West Virginia. “We are honored to join together to continue and grow this mission, guided by our shared commitment to Catholic social teaching and to building stronger, healthier communities.”
The merger reflects Catholic Charities’ ongoing efforts to collaborate with community partners to provide effective, localized solutions to poverty. As part of CCWVa, the St. Ursula site will benefit from increased access to regional food distribution networks, and strengthened operational support—while maintaining the community spirit and volunteer-led engagement that has been the hallmark of St. Ursula’s work.

St. Ursula Food Pantry & Outreach is a proud member of the United Way Family Resource Network Food and Hunger Committee and the Mountaineer Food Bank, and an active participant in community food drives and Empty Bowls Monongalia.
“This merger is a powerful way to reach more people with the care and compassion they deserve. St. Ursula Food Pantry has been a lifeline in this community, and together, we’ll build on that foundation to serve more families, meet urgent needs, and bring hope to those we serve,” stated Mark Phillips, President and CEO of Catholic Charities West Virginia.
Catholic Charities West Virginia is the largest private social service provider in the state, serving all 55 counties with compassionate care for tens of thousands of people each year. We serve all people—regardless of faith or background—working alongside communities to create lasting change and help individuals reach their full potential.
