Recently, Catholic Charities West Virginia participated in the first-ever Hampshire County Community Round Table—an event born out of a shared hope between local leaders: If we build it, they will come.
That hope became a reality.
Organized by Sherri Unger, Service Specialist at Catholic Charities West Virginia, and Tanya, Director of the Family Support Center in Romney, the event brought together a diverse group of community partners, all united by one goal—to better understand the gaps and strengths in local services. Together, they created a powerful visual mural and began meaningful conversations about how to collaborate more effectively to serve our neighbors in need.
The energy in the room was unmistakable. From addressing overlooked services to ensuring that what’s already working remains strong, the Round Table wasn’t just a meeting—it was the beginning of something transformative. Participants are already planning to make these gatherings quarterly, ensuring ongoing cooperation and shared vision.
At Catholic Charities West Virginia, we believe that when we come together in the spirit of community and compassion, we can create lasting and meaningful change. This Round Table is a beautiful reminder that when we act on our faith and values—solidarity, subsidiarity, and the dignity of every person—our communities become stronger and more connected.
