Restoring Hope Through Community

Restoring Hope Through Community

When a nine-year-old girl grew worried for her family, she turned to someone she trusted, Hannah Cooper. Hannah is a volunteer at the local girls’ dance company and also serves as a Service Specialist with Catholic Charities West Virginia.

Hannah reached out to the child’s 86-year-old great-grandmother, Sandra, who leads their four-generation household. Their electricity had been shut off in the heat of summer, and with a baby in the home, the situation required immediate attention.

In less than a day, Hannah met with Sandra, listened to the family’s concerns, and brought together support from three funding partners to restore their power. When the lights came back on, relief filled the home. Sandra shared through tears, “You made a miracle happen.”

This moment reflects the strength of our community and the hope that grows when caring people work together to support families in need.
