Catholic Charities West Virginia’s (CCWVa) ninth annual Gala, entitled “Impressions of Hope,” will be celebrated March 2 at Wheeling Park’s White Palace ballroom from 6:30-10 p.m. The Gala will benefit the agency’s programs and services in the Northern Panhandle.
“The Gala is a wonderful way for people to support the important work of Catholic Charities in the Northern Panhandle,” said Janet Boyle, member of the CCWVa board of directors and member of the Gala committee. “It’s also a very nice evening out, with great food and great company.”
The evening’s entertainment will be provided by the band Hit Play. The popular cover group blends top hits from the 80’s and 90’s as well as current dance favorites. Chef Rocco Basil will also be returning and preparing a delectable menu.
“Catholic Charities West Virginia relies on the generous contributions of so many individuals, groups, and businesses throughout the year to support its programs, and the Gala wouldn’t be possible without several sponsors who donate to it,” said Jacob Manning, Gala committee chairperson. “We are very grateful for all of those contributions, and this year, we are happy to honor the three Charity in Action Honorees for their commitment to CCWVa’s mission.”
The event is presented through the generosity of presenting sponsor, the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, and major sponsors: the Archdiocese of Baltimore, Mansuetto Roofing and Sheet Metal, Tecnocap and WVU Medicine.
CCWVa will also be honoring an individual and two groups who have performed meaningful service and demonstrated deep compassion for others. The recipients of the 2019 Charity in Action Awards are Lisa Werner of Wheeling, The Congregation of St. Joseph and Wheeling Central Catholic High School.
The gala is one of CCWVa’s largest annual fundraisers. Funds raised through the Gala will support the organization’s programs and services in the northern part of the state, which includes the Catholic Charities Neighborhood Center in Wheeling and basic needs assistance and case management services. It will also provide funding for statewide programs that serve children and the elderly. CCWVa values collaboration and works hard to focus on services where the agency has expertise and can create the greatest impact for the people it serves.
The cost for this event is $100 per person. Tickets for the gala include a cocktail reception, dinner and dancing. Those who would like to attend the gala may register by calling (304) 905-9860 or by visiting www.CatholicCharitiesWV.org.
