Personal Care Pantry Opened in Princeton

The Southern Region Office of Catholic Charities West Virginia (CCWVa) has opened a personal care pantry to serve West Virginia families in need. The pantry is stocked with a variety of personal hygiene items.

The office is located at 203 S. 7th Street in Princeton.

“Based on conversations with clients and research of available resources in the area, it seemed that there was a gap in service when it came to getting help with personal care items,” said Matt Atwood, CCWVa Southern Region Director. “In order for people to thrive it’s important for them to have their basic necessities. CCWVa hopes to help fill that gap and provide a service that will help struggling families extend their monthly budgets.”

The service is available to any low-income West Virginia residents in the area, regardless of their religion, race, national origin, age, or any other identifying factor. Qualifying families are able to visit the pantry once every three months.

The CCWVa personal care pantry has received support from the Community Foundation of the Virginias as well as local churches.

“We’re very excited to be offering this program,” said Atwood. “We see it as a valuable service to the community.”

If any groups or individuals in the area would like to support the pantry, donations of the following items are being accepted: liquid laundry detergent, individually wrapped toothbrushes, toothpaste, 4-packs of toilet paper, stick deodorant, bar soap, shampoo, shaving cream, razors, mouthwash, dryer sheets, and feminine hygiene products. Donated items can be dropped off at the office or arrangements can be made to pick them up. Financial support is also welcome.
